What was the reason for Jarakabande Sandal Reserve Forest Establishment?

The sole purpose of founding this Reserve forest within Bangalore City limits was, during the year 1931 CE, in the regime of the British who had established Mysore sandal soap factory at Yeshwanthpura which is some 8 km away realized that the Sandal trees were vanishing at the fast rate.  This location  (Jarakabande a local area) had a considerable amount of Sandal trees so they notified the area, through Gazette Notification (No G:1053 Ft 42-32-2, Dated: 10th August-1932 CE) in an area of little over 444 acres made it Reserve Forest for Sandal trees.  Post-Independence it continued as a Reserve Forest, now under the Government of Karnataka, under the Forest Department, which is in charge of this area.

Peacocks and Peahens at Jarakabande “B” Block Reserve Forest (Avalahalli Reserve Forest):

Peafowl, (both Peacock and Peahen together called peafowl), related to chicken, and in many ways, they are like the basic barnyard birds you may be used to. For example, peafowl eats just about anything they can scratch, from seeds and other plant parts to insects and spiders. they sometimes even catch bigger creatures including lizards and frogs. they hang out mostly on the ground. But they always flap away from danger up into a tree for the night to sleep.
